Welcome to the Media Center
Welcome to all students and parents! I am Mrs. Barnhill, the elementary Media Coordinator. I am excited about the new school year. The media center is an exciting place for students to check out books and learn about the world of technology. Students will become familiar with the media center setting through many activities. Students will have the opportunity to check out books every other week. Kindergarten will be learning about the media center and how to care for books before students start checking out in September. "Reading is the seed to lifelong learning. The deeper children dig into books, the stronger they grow."
Students learn about the many ways that we use technology in our lives. One of the ways that we integrate our common core standards in reading, writing, math, social studies, and science is through computers. Students learn the parts of a computer, how to manipulate a mouse, how to navigate through websites that reinforce the elementary curriculum, and work with iPads. We work on keyboarding skills, Google Docs (3rd and 4th grade), how to do research, online collaboration to create books, and online posters using board builder, and Coding. Please click on the grade level tabs to see what the grade levels are doing.
Winterfest will be on Saturday, December 2nd from 9-4:30 in the Gym. Please come out and join us for entertainment, live auction, silent auction, baked goods, vendors, and wonderful fellowship. For more information click on the Winterfest Tab on the left hand side of the page.
We will have two Scholastic book fairs this year. The first one is in November and the second one in April Please click on the link at the side for more information.
